Ford F15, 15cwt [.75-ton], 4x2, Light Truck The new Canadian Military Pattern trucks of various weight classes proved to be excellent vehicles in all condiition and the British troops in Northern Africa used them extensively. The Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) had recognized this from the start and converted captured Ford F15 CMPs by installing their equally excellent 20mm Breda da 20/65 Model 39 anti-aircraft gun. Like their Italian allies, the Germans also used captured CMP Ford F15s which they converted in a similar fashion similar way, by mounting a 2cm Flak 30 cannon in the cargo body and removing the top of the cab as well as the spare wheel. The conversion shown here served the Deutsches Afrikakorps starting in 1942. The eight ammunition boxes for the 20-round magazines were carried externally, like on the standard German 1-ton self-propelled half-track mounting.
